A total of six geo-textile tubes measuring 45 feet in length and three feet in width are currently being installed and this will clear a 35 to 45 foot area of beachfront access. Councilor Severo Guerrero, who is in charge of the project which falls under his portfolio, stated that they have acquired the services of Armando Graniel Jr. who will fill up the tubes and set them in place. The project kicked off days before Christmas and, if all goes well, will be completed in two months time.

Toyota announced three day production halt this month at its 12 plants - four car assembly plants and eight for engines, transmissions and other components. Toyota will suspend operations at the 12 plants for six days next month and another five days in March. The company says it will treat these 11 days as a paid holiday.

TOKYO (AP) Toyota Motor Corp. said Thursday it is negotiating with its workers in Japan to slash salaries as it stops production to adjust to slumping global demand. Toyota spokeswoman Ririko Takeuchi said the size of the cut is still undecided. She said talks are under way after the company decided this week to idle production at all 12 of its Japan plants for 11 days over February and March a stoppage of unprecedented scale for Toyota, Japan’s top automaker.

Toyota’s sales in the US consist of around 40% of Japanese built cars and trucks, and inventory levels have been piling up as demand has slackened. Out of the 12 plants where Toyota plans to halt production, four are car assembly facilities while the remaining eight build engines.
